Mazda Finance Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai said he’d like the U.S. to become a global car market.
He told CNBC’s “Power Lunch” that the company is “willing to help our U.K. partners achieve the same goal.”
The company announced a global financing program in March, with the U, Japan and Canada being the first nations to sign up.
Hirai also said that the Japanese government and Japanese automakers have a plan to create a global marketplace by 2025.
The automaker has also signed deals to develop a new electric vehicle, and is also looking at buying a joint venture with German carmaker Volkswagen.
